What are the signs that trauma
is affecting my daily life?

Trauma can show up in ways that feel unpredictable or disconnected from what is happening in the present. Many people describe it as feeling like their nervous system reacts before they can think through what is going on. Select what resonates.

A Whole-Person Approach to Trauma & Mental Health

At Fresh Path, we practice integrative psychiatry, which means we look at trauma and mental health through multiple layers instead of focusing only on symptoms. Your evaluation and care may include:

  • A comprehensive psychiatric assessment
  • Review of hormone levels and relevant lab work when appropriate
  • Collaboration with your primary care provider or other clinicians
  • Consideration of genetic testing when indicated
  • Exploration of trauma history, stress patterns, sleep, nutrition, and nervous system health

There is no hierarchy in how care is approached. Your treatment plan is built around your body, your history, and what feels safe and sustainable for you.

Our Values

Trauma-Informed and Safety-Oriented Care

Trauma does not happen in isolation. It often intersects with identity, culture, relationships, and ongoing stress in ways that shape how symptoms show up and how they are interpreted.

If you have ever felt dismissed, rushed, or not fully safe sharing your story in a medical or mental health setting, this approach is intentionally different. Fresh Path provides inclusive, trauma-informed care for adults of all genders, sexual orientations, racial and cultural identities.

Queer-affirming Neurodiversity-affirming Trauma-informed All genders welcome
"Your experiences matter. Your symptoms matter. Your voice matters."

We are queer-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and committed to care that respects the full context of your lived experience — not just your symptoms in isolation.

What We Do

Can trauma-informed care help me feel better and more stable?

While trauma can feel destabilizing, healing becomes more possible when your care is consistent, supportive, and tailored to your nervous system. With the right support, symptoms often become easier to understand and manage. Together, we build a collaborative care plan working toward the same goals: stability, resilience, and a greater sense of safety in your day-to-day life.

We assess the full picture before reaching any conclusions — psychiatric history, how trauma has shaped your daily experience, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping for. Trauma presents differently for everyone, and a careful evaluation is what allows care to be genuinely tailored rather than generic.

Medication can support nervous system regulation, reduce the intensity of hyperarousal, and create more stable biological conditions for healing. When it is part of your plan, it is selected carefully — for your neurobiology and your history — and monitored over time as your needs evolve.

Several herbal and supplement-based options have meaningful clinical evidence for nervous system regulation, sleep, and stress response — all of which are disrupted by trauma. We review every option for evidence, safety, and how it interacts with your existing treatment.

Trauma lives in the body as much as the mind. Sleep quality, nutrition, movement, and stress regulation directly affect how the nervous system functions and how much capacity it has for healing. We incorporate these as specific, practical parts of your care — not generic advice.

Chronic stress and trauma have measurable biological effects — on cortisol regulation, inflammatory markers, thyroid function, and hormonal balance. We review what's relevant to your picture and use this information to inform a care plan that addresses the underlying biology alongside the psychological dimensions.

Trauma recovery works best when psychiatric care and psychotherapy are coordinated rather than siloed. We work alongside therapists and other providers to ensure every part of your care is supporting the same goals — and that the biological work we do creates better conditions for the therapeutic work to take hold.
