Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma Can Affect Your Brain, Body, and Emotions — You Deserve Support That Handles It Gently.

Trauma can influence nearly every part of your daily experience, including mood, focus, sleep, energy, relationships, and your sense of self. If things feel harder than they used to, there may be deeper nervous system patterns at play.

At Fresh Path Integrative Psychiatry, we provide thoughtful, integrative medication management and holistic support designed to help you feel more steady, clear, and supported. Our approach is not about minimizing what you have been through, but about understanding it and working with it in a safe, respectful way.

You are not too sensitive. You are not dramatic. You are navigating trauma.

What are the signs that trauma is affecting my daily life?

Trauma can show up in ways that feel unpredictable or disconnected from what is happening in the present. Many people describe it as feeling like their nervous system reacts before they can think through what is going on.

You may be noticing:

Sudden anxiety or panic that feels unfamiliar

Irritability or rage that doesn’t feel like “you”

Brain fog, forgetfulness, or worsening ADHD symptoms

Intense flashbacks of past trauma

Sleep disturbances that leave you exhausted and wired

Mood swings that strain relationships

Holistic Menopause Treatment

A Whole-Person Approach to Hormonal Mental Health

At Fresh Path Integrative Psychiatry, we practice integrative psychiatry, which means we look at trauma and mental health through multiple layers instead of focusing only on symptoms.

Your evaluation and care may include:

  • A comprehensive psychiatric assessment

  • Review of hormone levels and relevant lab work when appropriate

  • Collaboration with your primary care provider or other clinicians

  • Consideration of genetic testing when indicated

  • Exploration of trauma history, stress patterns, sleep, nutrition, and nervous system health

Holistic Menopause Treatment

We use a range of treatment options depending on what best supports your healing, including:

  • Medication management when appropriate

  • Herbal and supplement-based supports

  • Nutrition and lifestyle guidance

  • Psychotherapy-informed approaches

There is no hierarchy in how care is approached. Your treatment plan is built around your body, your history, and what feels safe and sustainable for you.

Trauma-Informed and Safety-Oriented Care

Trauma does not happen in isolation. It often intersects with identity, culture, relationships, and ongoing stress in ways that shape how symptoms show up and how they are interpreted.

If you have ever felt dismissed, rushed, or not fully safe sharing your story in a medical or mental health setting, this approach is intentionally different.

Fresh Path provides inclusive, trauma-informed care for adults of all genders, sexual orientations, racial and cultural identities. We are queer-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and committed to care that respects the full context of your lived experience.

Your experiences matter. Your symptoms matter. Your voice matters.

Can trauma-informed care actually help me feel better and more stable?

While trauma can feel destabilizing, healing becomes more possible when your care is consistent, supportive, and tailored to your nervous system.

With the right support, symptoms often become easier to understand and manage. Together, we build a collaborative care plan that may include your therapists, medical providers, and other specialists so every part of your care is working toward the same goals: stability, resilience, and a greater sense of safety in your day-to-day life.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Fresh Path Integrative Psychiatry accepts Cigna, United Healthcare, Aetna, and BCBS (commercial plans only — we do not accept Medicaid or Medicare). We also offer self-pay options and a limited need-based sliding scale. If you’re unsure about your coverage, we’re happy to help you verify benefits and understand your options.

  • We offer both virtual (across Colorado) and in-person appointments to meet your needs. Telehealth allows you to access care from the comfort of your home, while in-person sessions provide a more traditional office experience — whichever feels most supportive for you.

  • The first step is scheduling an initial evaluation. From there, we’ll take a fresh look at your history, symptoms, and goals to build a personalized plan that supports your whole health — mind, body, and nervous system.
